WELCOME TO 4 C POSITIVE DOG TRAINING, LLC
Evidence-Based Dog Training
Training that is backed by science and uses positive reinforcement.
MY STORY
Hello, my name is Adrienne Kelenc and I love working with dogs! I have always had dogs and as a young girl set up homemade obstacle courses and competed in 4 H with my dog. After high school I joined the army and served overseas. When I returned home, I went to Northern Illinois University and graduated with a bachelor’s in science in nursing. While in the army and in nursing school I was unable to have a dog. Once I finished nursing school, I adopted my first rescue dog Cloey. I always knew that I wanted to do more with dogs and learn more about dog training. I became a certified dog trainer through Animal Behavior College and completed an apprenticeship at Tails Humane Society. Following that I started working full-time as a nurse and married the love of my life, where we bought a home in the Rockford area. Once becoming a homeowner, I adopted three other rescue dogs Chica, Carley, and Casey. I further continued my dog training education and became a certified trick dog instructor with Do More With Your Dog. I then started working with my Shepard mix Casey. She was a challenge to work with at first. Casey was very dog reactive and I had never dealt with this type of behavior. I went to other local dog trainers for support and help. Many of the local trainers advised me to use correction-based training which made Casey’s aggression worse. I connected with a positive reinforcement-based trainer and her training recommendations worked. This further inspired me to learn more about positive reinforcement training. In July 2020 I completed the Karen Pryor Academy professional dog training program. This course focused on science-based training and why positive reinforcement and clicker training work. My business 4 C Positive Dog Training is named after my four rescue dogs who inspired me to learn more about dog training and science-based training.
I have always been interested in furthering my education and haves the following certifications and degrees:
2020 Certified Training Partner, Karen Pryor Academy
2020 Stunt Dog Judge, Do More With Your Dog
2019 Certified Trick Dog Instructor, Do More With Your Dog
2014 ABC Certified Dog Trainer, Animal Behavior College
2011 Bachelor of Science in Nursing Norther Illinois University, Dekalb IL
2011 Minor in Spanish Norther Illinois University, Dekalb IL
I am always interested in learning more about dogs. I strive to stay up to date on new research in dog training. I attend different conferences and webinars each year to further my education in dog training.
